Blue Maestro Brings Us a Connected Pacifier

Pacifier-PacifiThe team at BlueMaestro.com has now come up with the connected pacifier for those parents who want to keep track of their small children in a variety of ways. The Pacifi monitors your child’s internal temperature and sends that data to the accompanying free app using low energy Bluetooth. It also acts as a tracking device alerting parents when the child wanders too far away from the parent’s smartphone or connected mobile device.

Finally it will help you find it when it is misplaced by the child or parent by pinging the smartphone to its location and making an audible alert tone when your phone is nearby. This type of connected family monitoring technology gives parents a number of tools to help them keep track of their kid’s health and whereabouts. Find more information over at BlueMaestro.com.

MobileHelp Gives Anyone a Connected Home Monitoring Safety System

MobileHelp-ProductsMobileHelp.com’s base station home monitoring system has been around for a while now. This personal emergency response system allows primarily senior citizens to get help when they have a personal emergency.

There’s a mobile wearable component that allows the individual to leave the home and travel about and a home base station that keeps track of the person at home. The wearable component includes an automatic fall detection sensor as well as a panic button that allows the individual to press for alert in an emergency situation other than a fall.

That would be a lot of functionality all by itself certainly. The team at MobileHelp have now added low energy Bluetooth capability to allow the base station and cloud software to communicate with other medical devices like electronic blood pressure cuffs, blood sugar glucometers, bathroom scales and more. Check out the whole system at MobileHelp.com.

Luminette Light Therapy Helps Treat the Winter Blues

Luminette-devicePeople who travel a lot as well as those who deal with the winter blues or Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) have one thing in common. They can benefit from a simple technology called “photo-therapy.” Photo or light therapy uses the wavelengths of daylight shining in the eyes to stop production of the sleep hormone melatonin in the brain. This is also thought to contribute to some aspects of depression.

Frequent travelers and sufferers of the winter blues will find that the Luminette from Lucimed.com is a perfect tool to help them with this problem. The device resets daylight cycles in the body and reduces melatonin production. Already in widespread use in Europe, the Luminette glasses are coming to the United States soon.

Health Tech Weekly host Jamie Davis, the Podmedic chatted with Lucimed General Manager Eric Delloye about the Luminette that lets you continue working on your daily chores while you wear it, unlike many photo therapy systems that require you to sit next to a light fixture for a period of time. Check it out at MyLuminette.com.

ThermoFlash Scanning Thermometer Resists Spread of Infection

BeWell-ThermoFlash-thermometerEvery year at CES, the Tech Podcast Network hosts in attendance pick their TPN Picks of the best at the show. This year Health Tech Weekly host Jamie Davis, the Podmedic picked the ThermoFlash scanning thermometer from BeWell Connect. Jamie interviewed BeWell’s medical director Dr. Francios Teboul who detailed the reasons why using a scanning thermometer that never has to touch the patient makes so much sense.

First, in the case of infectious diseases like ebola or the seasonal flu, limiting contact between caregivers and patients just makes sense to limit transmission of the disease. It’s also a very useful feature for those situations where you don’t want to disturb the patient while they are resting. This is particularly of interest to those parents of small children out there who are sick and need their rest.

The consumer version of the ThermoFlash will be available soon for around $100, it’s FDA approved and will have Bluetooth connectivity for those with smartphones and the BeWell Connect app. Find more information on their website at www.BeWell-Connect.com.
