Contour: Action Video for Extreme Sports

More Affordable Version of Contour Sports Camera

Contour has long been known for high performance sports and adventure video – but they were concentrated at the premium end of the marketplace. Not any longer ! The new ContourROAM has an MSRP under $200 ! And, they’ve paid attention to ease of use, introducing one-step recording. Just slide the record switch, and you’re instantly filming. Easy as that. It’s the ideal camera for a fun, stress-free experience capturing your adventures anywhere life takes you.

Aftershokz Headphones

Aftershokz
Bone Conduction Headsets use the same technology that military Special Ops teams depend upon. Now consumers can be street legal – nothing in, on, or covering your ears. Direct vibrations are carried by the bones to the inner ear. In military and police applications, their ears are open in order to hear the movements of both their targets and other members of their unit.

Aftershokz Headphones enable joggers, bike riders, skateboarders, hikers, and other athletes to safely listen to their portable music player while participating in their favorite activity.

Bluetooth enabled Activity Manager

If you are interested in healthy living and keeping track of your habits this is for you!

The BODYMEDIA Activity Manager captures your statistics in real-time as well as your sleeping habits.

I have used several different sports devices to track my progress for running, biking, skiing, etc but I have never had a device that captured my sleep.  According to my doctor, I need to sleep more and this may be exactly what I need.

You can publish your results on the internet for easy access and overview as well as using their iPhone/Android apps to log food intake and other essential habits.

I had a ton of fun talking to Nic “the intern” and I kept watching his statistics available on the BODYMEDIA web page.  Nic performed a skydiving tandem jump during CES and his statistics were immediately uploaded to the web to show how his body reacted to the jump.  This is really impressive.

Fitness professionals must be jumping and cheering about this device!

Ski goggles with built-in GPS and LCD

Ski goggles with built-in GPS that tracks all your stats in real-time?

Too good to be true right?

No, they’re here now! These goggles have an LCD in the corner that shows your speed, altitude, length of run, top speed, and lots more.

It’s small enough to not distract you but big enough to show you exactly what you need. In the future they are planning on integrating real-time information about where your friends are on the slope too. A must-have for avid skiers.

Finis Bone Conduction MP3 player

SwiMP3.1G is the name of this innovative product for the swimmer who don’t want to risk damaging their earbuds.

It is super-easy to attach this device to the strap of your swim goggles. It sounds much better than you expect. If I ever get started swimming as my doctor tells me to, I’m getting one of these.

Bone conduction sounds funky and some people might be shaking their heads but I think we are only seeing the beginning of this technology. I think Navy Seals would enjoy this one!

Liquid Image Sports Camera Masks

At CES Unveiled Liquid Image displayed their line of sports masks that can be used to take both still and video images. They have three product lines: Scuba for underwater, BMX for motorcycles and ATV, and the Summit series for skiers and snowboarders.

The Scuba masks will work down to 300 feet and last 2.5 to 3 hours on a single charge. The camera lens is located at the top of the mask in between your eyes so the camera sees what you see. There are colored LEDs and audible sounds to indicate the mode (still or video) and if the mask is recording.

All the masks support both still and video. The images are recorded to a micro SD card and a USB port is provided for downloading the images and video from the mask.

The Scuba and Summit Series also have 1080p HD versions. The standard masks retail for around $300 and the HD masks for $400.
