Combine Touch, Swipe, Button Technology in Cars: Visteon

visteon

Dashboards have changed. Gone are the days of push buttons, sliders and dials. Or are they really gone?

While at CES, we found Visteon – a company that researches how we do things like control our cars from the dash. They know that not everyone wants a touchscreen in their car. They want that tangible button to push or the dial to turn.

However, Visteon has gone one step further.

With strides they have made panels without buttons. However, when you slide the slider or push the button, you get a touch response. That way you have a button that is not really a button.

Visteon also works to make three technologies work in harmony. Buttons, touchscreen and swipe technology combined can give a driver a distract-less environment. They can then keep their eyes on the road.

Gone are the days of the Gas guzzling cars. Also gone are the days you get caught in a storm on your bicycle. Power, safety and green – that is what this car is all about.

Arcimoto was at CES showing off their concept car. It’s a prototype to the Pulse – a vehicle that looks and feels like a car, but is as energy efficient as they come. Best parts – it can get up to 70 MPH and is affordable to the public (The goal is to get it to $15,000).

With a full roll cage, it can be safer than a car. Standard parts make it easier to repair. It is perfect for the drive to work, or a quick stop to the grocery store.

QuikPod Lets You Be in the Picture

quikpod

You’ve probably tried to take a picture of you before. Extending your arm out to get the shot, but it doesn’t always work out. That is why you need a special monopod that will let you extend the camera out a bit.

QuikPod is a device that will extend your camera out so you can get in the shot. A telescoping arm will ensure you don’t get just eyes or noses in the picture. If it’s a picture of you and a friend, or even the whole group – Someone doesn’t get left out simply because they had to hold the camera.

The QuikPods also come with a stand attachment, so you can put the camera on the table or floor and get a picture. You don’t need to put a camera on it, either. It could be the flash stand, or a microphone boom for video cameras.

They even have a QuikPod for DSLR cameras that extend out to 53″. You can use it as a MonoPod, or a way that you can be in the picture, too. If you want to take a picture with your iPhone – no worries. They have an adapter for that, too.

Wicked Metal Jacket
Wicked Metal Jacket

In most cases, I wouldn’t want to put a bulky case on my iPhone. With Wicked Metal Jacket, I think I’d change my mind.

Wicked Metal Jacket creates cases out of aircraft quality Aluminum bar stock. However, the machined designs and anodized colors make each case pretty cool to have around.

The cases are pretty hard-core. Each case comes with a screwdriver so you can put your iPhone in. Prices start at $49, but for the true enthusiast, should be a great case to have.
