Nicholas DiMeo and Scott Ertz, of F5 Live: Refreshing Technology are excited and ready for our fourth year of covering the International CES 2013 in Las Vegas, NV. For us, the holidays aren’t over until we’ve covered every inch of the now 1.8 million square feet of show space that is CES 2013. Our show is now fully integrated into the Tech Podcast Network coverage and we can’t wait to show all of you the coolest, most innovative and downright nerdy gadgets and toys that we’re able to find. From professional audio equipment to the next leap in processing power, CES has it all and we are interested in finding the products that will end up as holiday gifts by this time next year.

With the TPN booth being moved to just outside the North Hall, things are bound to get a little hectic and crazy so be sure to follow the news, as it happens, on your phone, computer or tablet as we bring it to you as live as it can be. We’ll be live streaming (quite literally), live blogging, live tweeting and doing pretty much everything we can do be the only source you need to log onto during the most important week of the technology world. From big time CEOs to the startups at Eureka Park, we’ll have 45 hours of content for you to enjoy from the moment the show floor opens, right here on this site. Then, once the show comes to a close, we will be providing you with more in-depth interviews from the show floor, as our team scoured the floor extensively to make sure we didn’t miss a thing. Oh, and don’t forget to keep the site up so you can catch all of the antics that happen during the afterparties and events that take place during the night. Those videos will also be right here for you to enjoy, as informative or as crazy as they might be!

It’s all going down on January 8-11, live from beautiful Las Vegas, Nevada so mark your calendars. We’re ready; are you?

CES 2013 is officially the Largest Floor Show in History (1.87 million Square Feet)

ces2013

Coming to CES? Better bring 2 pairs of shoes because The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) announced CES will have 3,000 companies displaying. This will make it the largest show in history.

“With the largest show floor in history, more innovative technologies and services will launch at the 2013 CES than anywhere else in the world,” said Gary Shapiro, president and CEO, CEA. “From cloud-based services, advancements in digital health, connected vehicle technologies, the latest apps, flexible devices and beyond, the innovations unveiled at the 2013 CES will create new jobs and further economic growth around the world.”

How large is CES?

It’s 1.87 million square feet (173729 meters or 42 acres).  What is 1.87 million square feet compare to?

  • Retail shops in Downtown Austin, TX (6.3 million square feet total)
  • A football field is 58,000 Square feet. That is over 32 football fields long
  • Facebook’s Data Centers are around 300,000 square feet. CES would engulf 6 Data Centers

The Zones of CES

Many new zones have been added and cultivated throughout the years including the iLounge pavilion, Eureka park, digital health and fitness tech zone and many more.

Congrats to CES for being the largest floor show. I know I will be walking a good deal of that 1.87 million square feet Jan 8-11th.

MSI Brings Dragon Edition to CES 2013

MSI Computer Corp designs, manufactures, and markets awesome computers, laptops, notebooks, mainboards, graphics cards, and more. As a gamer, I’d consider MSI next time I’m in the market for a great “gaming machine”. They recently released their GX60 which is gaming notebook that has a SteelSeries gaming keyboard.

You can check out MSI at CES 2013. The MSI suites will be located in the Aria Resort & Casino. They will be showcasing some of their award-winning solutions, including some that are CES Innovations 2013 Design and Engineering Award Honorees. Both the GTX 680 Lightning video card and their limited edition GT70 Dragon Edition are Honorees.

CES 2013 Planning Underway

Several weeks ago the TPN team had their first planning meeting for coverage of the 2013 International Consumer Electronics Show. The response was great, and we have a great team already on the roster. So we are marching forward in our show coverage planning.

If you watched our 2012 live coverage we racked up 670,000 viewer hours on the 25 sites that simulcast our content, with an average of 14,000 live viewers per hour during the live coverage.

Post show we published over 280 interviews on each of our participating host sites racking up some serious Google juice. Those interviews utilized or standard distribution methods have now been watched 10′s of millions of times over 100+ media devices, including Google TV, Roku, Boxee, Samsung Smart Tv, Tablets of all makes and just about every other media device with a screen.

As you know those spots covered every cool and note worthy gadget and consumer product that CES had to offer. Our viewer numbers are already hitting record numbers for us, and will continue to accumulate views as Google drives traffic to all of that content on our host sites and Tpn.tv.

If you appreciated our coverage over these past 7 years, we are on the hunt for our 2013 sponsors for the show, and we have one amazing advertising opportunity for no more than three sponsors spots. You only have a few days to react before we distribute the media kit, so get your hooks in early for a shot of being one our 2013 CES sponsors.

ARIN on the Transition of IPv4 to IPv6

John Curran from the American Registry for Internet Numbers (ARIN) joins us for the TPN CES Live coverage. John talked about what is happening with IPv4 and the switch to IPv6. In the past year, the last remaining IPv4 addresses were handed out to global regions.

World IPv6 Launch takes place on June 6, 2012. Starting to connect customers up will be an organized effort, just like with the DTV transistion, or Y2K. Best part is you can go to your ISP, and ask to have IPv6 turned on.

IT departments should be prepared for this transition. 340 undecillion IP addresses, which means we could cover a good chunk of the Universe before we run out of addresses.

3Feet Mobile Device Stand Made in USA

Al Werth joined us again for CES TPN Live coverage to talk about 3Feet – their universal mobile device stand. Smartphone or tablet, this sturdy stand can be used to hold up your Android, iPad, iPhone or other items (including a good old fashioned notebook). Three positions will give you ability to angle your device so you can see comfortably watch or play a game.

I even used it on the plane ride home to play Monopoly. It’s sturdier than the iPad cover folded over to the stand.

This stand is made in the USA and they also have branding options (like the Corvette logo model I use). There are 11 colors to choose from.

3Feet is available for $20

Snapcuts Supplies Video Clips to Create Video Messages

Bee Ottinger from Snapcuts joins us on CES TPN Live coverage. She talks about how SnapCuts can be used to put together a video card. From simple thanks, to congratulations, and much more.

They use video clips that are in the public domain – and there is a lot in the public domain (check out archive.org). They create clips, which you can browse over at their website. When you find a clip you want to use, just put it in the video pane on the bottom.

When done, send off your message to friends and loved ones. The site is free – just register and start using Snapcuts. The site is still in beta and adding new clips all the time.
