Proof: the Wearable Warning System for Mind-Free Partying

ProofImagine a product that not only monitors your alcohol intake but also lets you know when it will wear off. Proof does just that and is packaged in a smart little bracelet that no one would suspect its function. This product is a wearable alcohol detection system. It is based on a dime-sized sensor on the back of the bracelet.

Proof is designed to be synced with your iOS and Android phone. It measures a number of chemicals coming through your skin, and is able to deduce your blood alcohol based on those readings. Once the application has that data, it will combine it with your height and weight to determine when you’ll be below the threshold you entered.

Proof will be available through crowdfunding soon at a pricepoint of $100-$150.

Organics and Healthy Eating from Natufia

NatufiaIt seems that a lot of people are going organic these days. With everyone becoming so health-conscious it seems the market for these products is literally bursting at the seams. It is a costly endeavor and can be fairly prohibitive for many. Enter Natufia, the self-contained hydroponic growing system meant for home use. It uses ultra-violet light and comes with starter seeds.

The clear box is designed to hold a watering and fertilization system. It is fairly small and can produce up to 2 salads a day. It hooks up to your water like your dishwasher, which allows for “water in, water out.” The tray at the bottom of the unit holds your starter seedlings and the also balances the pH of your water.

At present, the delivery is running at about 4 months with a pricetag of $13,500, with a down payment of
$1,500.

Emora Spans the Distance for Love

EmoraThe human species possesses something that others do not: expressing emotions. We want the important people in our life to know how we feel about them; hence the Emora was conceived. The wearable Emora is a bracelet that transmits our deepest feelings when we are too far away to express them.

It is based on the principal that our emotions are felt and sensed by the device. It uses Bluetooth communication to your phone to share that information. Your feelings can be shared with up to 3 pre-selected people at one time.

It will be available on January 24, 2017 through Indiegogo for $150.

Protect Yourself from Danger with the Nimb Panic Ring

NIMBWe are unfortunately living in a world where we are not as safe as we once were. We have to be aware of our surroundings all the time. There is a new product out called Nimb designed to alleviate the stress of being out alone at night, walking across a dark campus or being in a deserted parking garage. Nimb is a ring designed to be able to call for emergency help or someone on your pre-existing call list.

The trigger button is cleverly concealed on the base of the ring and,if the person feels threatened, can be pushed for 3 seconds to summon help. If the receiving person has the Nimb app, they can automatically get your location, while someone without the app gets a text message. The ring comes in 2 colors, black and white and the sizes range from 3-12, fitting both men and women.

Following a successful crowdfunding campaign, you can pre-order Nimb in either color for $129.

Digital or Vinyl? Have the Best of Both Worlds with Yes It Is.

Yes It IsThe digital age took us all by storm. We went from listening to our music on record players while at home and on cassette players while out and about to the all digital and mystical Compact Disk. Before you knew it everybody was getting rid of their large, component-style stereo systems for the sleek and clear sound of this new digital medium. This ground breaking technology soon paved the way to the digital downloading and streaming that we all know and love today.

But in recent years, there has been a resurgence in the music industry. Those “old school” audiophiles who endured quite a bit of ribbing and ridicule over the years for keeping their classic turntables are now laughing at those who are coming back around to the pure sound, and feel, of vinyl. Many music lovers are kicking themselves for disposing of their old equipment and rummaging through the basements and attics of their parents and older siblings in the hopes of the ultimate find… a forgotten turntable and stash of records. Others are thrilled to see that there are companies who are making newly updated styles of record players that fit in with any personality and room decor. That’s right, vinyl albums are making a huge comeback. And you don’t have to settle for purchasing your albums from garage sales and flea markets. Many artists are now publishing on vinyl again and there are even sections in large book stores that are dedicated once again to records.

And now, to make it even more exciting… Yes It Is, a brand new French startup, has taken the concept of vinyl record albums into the digital age by combining them with a chip that can be read by the NFC reader on your cell phone to bring listening to music into the universe of social media. The albums are traditional. providing that classic sound while playing on your record player, but they also do so much more. By reading the chip onto your cell phone, you open up a whole world of exclusive online content on the cloud. The VIP content includes things like special interviews, upcoming concert dates and events, backstage pics and videos, as well as access to merchandise. It’s really like becoming part of a new, special and exclusive fan club for each artist.

With the company being in its infancy, they are currently in negotiations with various European music labels and are working on getting their product off the ground. They hope to someday bring this amazing technology to the United States, as well. And we here at PLuGHiTz Live certainly cannot wait! We’ll be keeping an eye on this fun and innovative company and will provide updates as they grow.

Safe And Secure While Playing Sports with In&motion

In&motionEvery once in a while a product comes along that really catches your eye for a very good reason: and the reason here is safety. In&motion is a wearable airbag that is designed to keep you safe while pursuing your favorite hobby or sport such as skiing, horseback riding, or motorcycle riding. It is based on sensors that fit in and around the vest worn by the user whose purpose is to inflate the vest during times of danger but before impact.

The interesting thing about this airbag is that you can tell it if you are a novice or an experienced sportsman and what sport you are participating in. Different sports require different movements and the sensors pick up on that. There are several configurations for the airbag making it adjustable for various sports and allows it to be available for men, women and children.

This is available in parts of Europe now and will be coming to the US when the demand is high enough.

Tech Podcast Network CES 2017 Coverage to Eliminate Live Broadcast Studio

For 12 years the Tech Podcast Network has covered CES, and the past five years we’ve had a live broadcast studio outside of North Hall for CES vendors to show off their latest consumer electronics. We are proud that each year we’ve produced 40 hours of live content, reaching more than 500,000 consumers.

Our post-show interviews rack up over 30 million consumer views yearly, and last year resulted in more than $10 million in product purchases from our loyal audience. That said, times are changing and as a team we have decided to forgo the incredible expense of our mobile broadcast studio for several reasons.

While we respect our friends in public relations, the past few years we’ve seen a decline in being able to have direct access to vendors. This has significantly affected our access to vendors post-show and their come to market products and post show interviews. The way in which PR teams act as gatekeepers to vendors has reduced the long-term value of our live coverage and most importantly, hindered the ability to develop deeper relationships and partnerships that often led to podcast sponsorship’s that support our involvement in the industry.

This year we will have five floor teams that will be conducting recorded interviews, and live streaming from select vendors on the show floor. We will revert to only doing interviews in booths with company leads. Unfortunately, discontinuing the broadcast studio eliminates about 120 of the 250 interview opportunities we typically conduct at the show.

But rest assured our floor teams will be seeking out the top innovative products and under reported gems. We encourage you to share your announcements about new product offerings as soon as possible. We agree to all embargoes. And please be aware that if we do not have your press releases and supporting artwork in before 12-31, the opportunity for written coverage on our team blogs by our teams during the show is greatly diminished.

Finally, we do have some exclusive sponsor opportunities available to vendors that want to reach the 32 million consumers that will seek out our CES 2017 show content. Please contact geeknews@gmail.com for more information on our sponsorship’s.

We look forward to discovering your innovative products at the show.
