SKY UV Mobile Device Disinfecting From Seal Shield

logoThe team at Seal Shield is continuing to innovate infection control for health care organizations with the SKY™ ultra-violet light sanitizing system for mobile devices like tablets and smartphones. Health Tech Weekly host, Jamie Davis, the Podmedic, interviewed Seal Shield CEO and founder Brad Whitchurch about the new device sanitizing system at CES 2016 in Las Vegas earlier this month.

Brad demonstrated the device, and the system won a coveted TPN.tv Pick award for the show. Only ten awards are given out by the podcasting team from the Tech Podcast Network and each host only gets one pick. Jamie was wowed by the SKY™ UV system and immediately awarded the Seal Shield team his pick.

From the SKY™ UV press release:

The SKY™ is the world’s first UV Sanitizer to kill more than 99.95% of pathogens in less than 30 seconds. Designed for use in hospitals to protect patients and practitioners from dangerous cross contamination infections, the Sky is also the perfect solution for mobile retailers and IT / MIS professionals who service and support mobile devices of unknown or dubious origins.

Tablet computers and smartphones have been proven to harbor harmful bacteria and viruses. A study published in the Journal of Applied Microbiology warns that “twenty to thirty percent of viruses can be readily transferred from a fingertip to a glass surface, like that on a touch screen.”

“Mobile device hygiene is imperative in today’s pathogen-rich environments. SKY™ was designed to be easy to use, and it can safely disinfect virtually any mobile device in under 30 seconds,” states Seal Shield CEO, Brad Whitchurch.

The SKY™ UVC sanitizers use high intensity, 254 nanometer UVC light, at close proximity of less than 60 thousandths of an inch, to thoroughly disinfect a tablet or smartphone and achieve up to a 6 log reduction in pathogens such as MRSE, VRE, MDR-gram negative, Norovirus and Cdiff.

MOCAHeart Tracks Health With Two Thumbs Up

MOCAHeartMOCAHeart uses a unique sensor package to track a person’s health and wellness with just two thumbs touching the device. As Chief Operating Officer and Co-Founder Naama Stauber says the MOCAHeart device with a smart sensor that gives you an indication of your heart health. You simply place two thumbs on the device for 25 seconds, which has a built-in electrocardiogram (ECG) sensor along with other proprietary sensors.

The sensor communicates with a smartphone app and can be used to track the effects of lifestyle changes like changes to your diet and exercise levels. The neurosurgeon who helped develop the MOCAHeart was frustrated with patients being unable to go home from surgery and successfully track their vital signs on their own. With the small, pocket-sized device, patients can track their vitals and send the data to their physician or loved ones.

Stand Alone Smartwatch with No Phone Required

burg-pink-watchWearable devices are becoming a huge sector of the consumer electronics marketplace and at the International CES show in Las Vegas this year the Tech Podcast Network saw that again and again. Health Tech Weekly host Jamie Davis, the Podmedic and F5Live.tv host Nick DiMeo were manning the TPN.tv booth and interviewed Steven Jay, VP of Marketing from Burg watches.

Burg makes high-end designer watches and have introduced a new line of connected watches with notifications from a built in wireless chipset. You don’t have to connect your other smartphone to this watch, it is its own smart connected device.

Smartwatches are now more than just a geek gadget. Smartwatches have the future! More and more people now see how clever it is to have your phone strapped around your wrist for a quick check, whenever you want, wherever you are. Imagine being able to look at your wrist instead of your phone to check that message or to watch your favorite clip.
