Big Surprise: Women Love Spiders

breffoAt least when they are the  Breffo Spider– a mounting system for desktop, auto, bike or cubicle. It’s not clear if they love spiders, or if they are buying them for gifts, but it’s been a surprising trend since it was introduced a year ago. Applicable to any sort of mobile device, the completely pliable legs capture GPS units, smartphones, cameras, radar detectors, portable radios, music players and other devices. Using a premium grade of steel rod, it holds in position rather than springing back.  Oriented in portrait or landscape, it can be molded to the car headrest or other vehicle parts. Big Training Cost Savings for Win8 Tablet Users with Virtual Binder

gDocLogoOne of the hidden costs of any conversion is training large numbers of non-IT workers on a new system. Microsoft Partner Global Graphics has created the software equivalent of a three ring binder. Learning curve ? Approximately zero. The software application, designed from the ground up for the enterprise marketplace and Windows8 tablets allows you to gather up and collate documents from anywhere in any format – PPT, DOC, XLS,PDF, and then assign to pages and tabs within a smart equivalent of a three ring binder. You can share and archive binders and content selectively and confidentially and collaborate with friends and colleagues anywhere on the globe. Personal applications are also possible.

The content display is instantly familiar regardless of computer skills of the employee. And by using existing business documents, there is no re-scanning or conversion required to bring in existing documentation and reference materials.

Pages can be set to automatically update, and it is possible to add annotations, edit pages and documents, and electronically search by phrase, word or tab.TPN Interview by Andy McCaskey, SDRNews and Daniel J. Lewis, The Audacity To Podcast.

A “NetFlix” Like Service for News Papers Around the World

PressreaderMoving the Newspaper industry into the digital world is a challenge around the world. The tablet reader is probably the best thing that has happened to newspapers – and this new service called PressReader allows you to aggregate over 2300 newspapers from around the world – replicas of  thousands of newspapers for a low fee of $30 per month. The traditional business model is no longer sustainable – but online versions of newspapers in web page form is not kept pace. The form factor of the tablet and availability of WiFi has changed the physical delivery of content as well as the mode of consumption. With a natural-feeling reading process, the tablet makes it much more newspaper-like and opens up a whole new group of consumers.

Geekazine at CES13 – TPN’s 3rd Year Live Streaming CES!

Geekazine
Geekazine

It’s that time of year again. Time to get plans in order and get ready for the biggest event of the year.

Holidays? No! I’m talking CES 2013!

Hello, I’m Jeffrey Powers of Geekazine and How to Record Podcasts. I am here to let you all know I will be once again going to CES 2013! Just like Geekazine did in 2012. Just like Geekazine did in 2011. Now it’s 2013 and I’m heading out there again!

What I’m expecting this year at CES

I expect the tablet and smartphone imitative will be crazy. Everyone will have an app for these devices or an accessory to connect to these devices. I expect 3D will still be making strides and TV screens will get bigger and thinner.

LTE is being rolled out but it doesn’t mean the next version of wireless is not going to rear it’s head. Your home wireless is going to pass 802.11n (with 802.11ac) and you will soon pass a Gbps mark.

TPN Live Stream of CES

With the booth move to North hall, I expect our live stream will be off the charts. There will be a lot of traffic where we are so our exposure will increase ten-fold.

Never before have I been this excited about CES. With CES being the largest show floor I am hoping to see a lot of innovative technologies and great new gadgets.

Then there are the after parties. Lots of great events where you can meet the cast and characters that cover CES year after year.

This is the cant-miss show of the year and I am excited to be part of it.

Here is the presentation in the video if you would like to follow along:

This is a drawing board that is connected directly to the computer – Mac or PC. Wacom’s newest pen, with 2048 levels of pressure, it will recognize and react to the pen. You could make it so sensitive, the pen doesn’t have to touch the screen.

The screen is 1920×1200 with 92% Adobe Gamma color. The base does swivel, so you can move the Wacom as you continue to draw.

The Wacom is $2495 and available now.

Nvidia Tegra3 Tablets Run Windows 8, Quad Core Processors

Nvidia Tegra3
Nvidia Tegra3

We check out the new Tegra3 tablets by Nvidia at CES. Amazing little devices, these tablets run Quad-core processing using ARM processors. HD video at 1080p, multi-tasking ability and a lot more.

With the new Windows 8 OS, these tablets look good. You can connect them up to a HDTV and do more from a tablet. Watch video on the TV, while you check out your Twitter on the tablet screen.

The Tegra3 tablet will be out later this year. I might even be mixing down video come CES 2013 using this tablet.
