Tour of the TPN Live Studio Booth at CES2011

Behind the Scenes

With almost every interview slot filled, our audience did not have a chance to get a view of the entire operation of the booth during most of CES2011. In this segment, we take a break between guests, and you can get a good idea of the scope of the Tech Podcast Network studio booth in South Hall.

Please help support TPN in our efforts to spread the word about the great product interviews (from the live studio and from the floor) and follow through by clicking on the links below, and taking a close look at the offers from our sponsors.

Ever Wonder About SD Cards ? This Might Surprise You

The common SD memory card has been around for a number of years: conveniently sized storage, plenty of capacity. Unfortunately, familiarity breeds ignorance, and a lot of consumers end up with the wrong product for their device.   Alisa Hicks of the SD Association points out that many product performance issues with respect to SD cards could be solved simply by reading the equipment manual and then making an informed buying decision, instead of grabbing the latest bargain-bin price buster and pushing it into the slot.

SD memory cards come in a variety of speed classes and three different physical sizes: SD, miniSD, and microSD. The SD Association has tutorial videos and consumer information on their site, to help you get the right product for your device.

zBoost Signal Amplifier for Cell Phones

zBoost, made by Wi-Ex, looks very similar to a WiFi router, but instead of broadcasting or repeating WiFi, it boosts a cell signal. At CES they showed off a new model, called the Metro, which was made for urban dwellers. It can boost the signal in an apartment, but no so much that it allows all of your neighbors to jump on it as well.

There is also a multi-band model which covers all wireless providers. Setting one up in your home is as easy as following the simple instructions. zBoost products are available at most big-box electronics stores as well as online from such retailers as Amazon. The Metro retails for $299 and other models prices vary.
