Proof: the Wearable Warning System for Mind-Free Partying

ProofImagine a product that not only monitors your alcohol intake but also lets you know when it will wear off. Proof does just that and is packaged in a smart little bracelet that no one would suspect its function. This product is a wearable alcohol detection system. It is based on a dime-sized sensor on the back of the bracelet.

Proof is designed to be synced with your iOS and Android phone. It measures a number of chemicals coming through your skin, and is able to deduce your blood alcohol based on those readings. Once the application has that data, it will combine it with your height and weight to determine when you’ll be below the threshold you entered.

Proof will be available through crowdfunding soon at a pricepoint of $100-$150.

Emora Spans the Distance for Love

EmoraThe human species possesses something that others do not: expressing emotions. We want the important people in our life to know how we feel about them; hence the Emora was conceived. The wearable Emora is a bracelet that transmits our deepest feelings when we are too far away to express them.

It is based on the principal that our emotions are felt and sensed by the device. It uses Bluetooth communication to your phone to share that information. Your feelings can be shared with up to 3 pre-selected people at one time.

It will be available on January 24, 2017 through Indiegogo for $150.

Protect Yourself from Danger with the Nimb Panic Ring

NIMBWe are unfortunately living in a world where we are not as safe as we once were. We have to be aware of our surroundings all the time. There is a new product out called Nimb designed to alleviate the stress of being out alone at night, walking across a dark campus or being in a deserted parking garage. Nimb is a ring designed to be able to call for emergency help or someone on your pre-existing call list.

The trigger button is cleverly concealed on the base of the ring and,if the person feels threatened, can be pushed for 3 seconds to summon help. If the receiving person has the Nimb app, they can automatically get your location, while someone without the app gets a text message. The ring comes in 2 colors, black and white and the sizes range from 3-12, fitting both men and women.

Following a successful crowdfunding campaign, you can pre-order Nimb in either color for $129.

Lego Education Builds a Future Through its Famous Blocks

legoeducationIdeas and inventions, like those shown off this year at CES, need people to first come up with the concepts that will be brought to life. There is a good chance that future presenters may have had their minds shaped by Lego Education.

Out to show that the simple building blocks can be used for more than just constructing a simple car or a complex castle, Lego Education announced at CES its WeDo 2.0, which is designed to bring science to life in the classroom through robotics. According to senior segment manager Leshia Hoot, WeDo 2.0 was put together with elementary-age students in mind and teaches them the basics of things from coding and programming to working with motors and sensors. The concept was kept simplified to make it accessible to both students and teachers, with easy-to-use software that is icon-based drag and drop.

According to Hoot, the core set of WeDo 2.0 retails for about $160 and comes with several projects, access to the software and a curriculum guide with 40-plus hours of activity. More information can be found at legoeducation.us or legoeducation.com if you are outside of the U.S.

Philips Introduces an Inexpensive Trio of Headphones

Philips is making an active lifestyle easier and more convenient for customers by creating their new sports headphones, Wireless Freedom. This product is purely Bluetooth and gives the user a sense of running freely without feeling like they are wearing headphones at all. While being light weight, they are still extremely heavy duty and robust. Wireless Freedom has a long lasting battery life that lasts up to 4 and a half hours of playtime.
