Worth Avenue Group Provides Insurance

Worth Avenue Group
Worth Avenue Group

Aaron Cooper joins the Live CES coverage from Worth Avenue Group. We talk about insurance for your device. Smartphone, notebook or desktop.

If you use your device in a mobile situation, you could be at risk in theft or damage. With these $500 or higher devices, if we loose them, our lives are changed. That is why we need a company like Worth Avenue Group.

As we talked more, we found that the insurance also covered virus removal and device protection. That way if your USB hard drive dies or the headphones get broken, you can claim them, too.

Xi3, Z3RO Turns One Small Computer into Four

Xi3

David Politis stopped by the CES live booth to talk about the Xi3 – a remarkable computer in it’s own right. However, he also showed us Z3ro, a module that turns this one small computer, into four.

The Xi3 is an idea – take the motherboard of a computer and modularize it. Therefore, if one part of the computer goes, you get the replacement and pop it right in there. Especially nowadays when the GPU is in the CPU and the Solid State Drive is getting put right on the board.

David shows us how easy it is to open and fix. Better yet, David also showed off Z3ro – a terminal emulating device that can turn the one computer into 2. You can put 3 – Z3ro adaptors and turn one computer into four!

WellDoc Smartphone Application Helps Manage Health

WellDoc
WellDoc

Anand Lyer and Chris Bergstrom came on to the Live CES show to talk about WellDoc. This is the next generation of technology solutions supporting chronic disease management. Using the cell phone to monitor and coach them.

WellDoc is a company who’s software will record and report. By giving your doctor a timeline of what you have been doing, they will be able to treat better.

Think of WellDoc as a personal coach. It lets you know what you need to do. For diabetics, if your blood sugar is low, it will let you know how much sugar you really need.

Validity Fingerprint Sensors with More Flexibility

Mariel van Tatenhove, the VP of Marketing came by the live booth to show off Validity. It’s the fingerprint swipe technology on certain laptops and touchscreens.

Validity is different from other fingerprint swipe technologies for they separate the sendor from the silicon. The end result is the sensor is not broken. The best part is the newer versions can change color to let you know if it worked or not.

As smartphones get more powerful with more storage, the possibility of losing something important when your phone is misplaced or stolen, gets ever greater. And it’s not really business documents that are important, it’s your photos that are really irreplaceable.

It’s a charging cradle that also backups up contacts and photos to the included 4GB SD card (which can be upgraded by the user, if needed). An Iomega backup and restore application is available from the iTunes store. It’s especially useful for those people who never sync their iPhone to their Mac.
