Added ID3 Tags to last week s show |
|
Hey everyone, I just noticed today that I hadn’t included ID3 tags in last week’s show. I’ll talk a little bit more about why last week’s show was a little late tomorrow. For now, though, the tags have been added. I figured since I rail about how podcasters should use ID3 tags that I should take my own advice.

Make Your Life Easier With Synergy |
|
The problem: you have three computers on your desk that you use often. You want to be able to control them both with the same keyboard and mouse but don’t want to bother with a KVM. Oh yeah, each is running a different OS: Vista, OS X and Linux.
The answer: Synergy. Synergy allows you to use the same mouse and keyboard with all the machines. It’s like a virtual KVM. The added bonus is that it’s like extending your desktop to another computer.
Synergy lets you easily share a single mouse and keyboard between multiple computers with different operating systems, each with its own display, without special hardware. It’s intended for users with multiple computers on their desk since each system uses its own monitor(s).
Redirecting the mouse and keyboard is as simple as moving the mouse off the edge of your screen. Synergy also merges the clipboards of all the systems into one, allowing cut-and-paste between systems. Furthermore, it synchronizes screen savers so they all start and stop together and, if screen locking is enabled, only one screen requires a password to unlock them all.
If you’re a multi-OS user with more than one computer on your desk, you should be using Synergy. It is, hands-down, the coolest and most productive piece of software I’ve come across in a long time. Oh yeah, it’s also free. Even though it’s free you should leave them a donation because the team of developers have done an awesome job.

Podcasting with Wordpress Overview |
|
This is the 2nd session from the Geeks God Web 2.0 Conference where I spoke on Podcasting with Wordpress. This is just a quick overview. I don't go into a lot of detail but I think it's valuable (otherwise I wouldn't be posting it).
Thanks again to Micah Webner for recording the sessions and doing the heavy lifting.

Simple Recording Setup |
|
This is the first of 3 presentations I did at the Geeks God Web 2.0 Conference last month. I hope you enjoy it.
The funny comment is from Scott Roche, author of Archangel: Valley of the Shadow. The promo at the end is for Stan Prolongo, short stories about a private detective from the white sands of the Goshen Ocean.
Audio from the conference was recorded by Micah Webner.
Video by ConnectedGeek is available at: http://connectedgeek.net/content/node/2. I think I'm in just about all of them but this presentation is probably in #4 or #5 for July 24th.

Starry Eyed |
|
Today's podcast features an interview I did with Jay Ryan, live, as I passed through Cleveland on my way home from the Geeks God Web 2.0 Conference. We talked about upcoming events in the night sky as well as his astronomy curriculum: Signs Seasons. I also talk a little bit about the conference and the ensuing aftermath. And, some congratulations are in order for the Two Blind Squirrels podcast.

Rocking the Mic with Geeks & God |
|
I had the opportunity to join Bob Matt on their podcast, Geeks God while at the Geeks God Web 2.0 Conference. We kicked back outside while recording this podcast. We got inside just before the killer mosquitoes descended upon us.
I had a great time at the conference, met a lot of really cool people and had a blast on the podcast. In this podcast we talk about the importance of ministry leaders and workers going to a conference to meet with people who are like-minded in their gifts and talents as well as their faith. Enjoy! |

Interview with Patrick O Keefe |
|
This week's podcast features and interview with Patrick O'Keefe of the iFroggy Network and author of Managing Online Forums: Everything You Need to Know to Create and Run Successful Community Discussion Boards. I was very pleased to interview Patrick and talk about his book. If you've got a forum or you're thinking about starting one, Patrick's book is a must!

I m so Blue |
|
This week's podcast is recorded using my new Blue Snowflake USB microphone. I still have some tweaks to make and have to account for the fact that it picks up more ambient noise than my USB headset but I think the audio is better despite the fact that the stupid fan on my Macbook went nuts on me! Dang you GarageBand '08 for taxing more resources! Look for a review of the mic in an upcoming blog post and/or podcast as well as some commentary as to why I think the iLife '08 upgrade was a big waste of money.
This week's show notes:
NetGear Open Source Router
World's Longest Cable-stayed bridge
Air/X300/R500 Comparison
Apple iPhone Four Months Behind OS X in Patches - Security Fix
Google Maps Street View of Tour de France 2008
ICANN's URL Hijacked
NY Times article about SUV owners whining about $100 full-ups

Upcoming Windows Update update
XP SP3 available to all 'shortly'
